About Joellen
JoEllen Shea is a passionate advocate with over twenty-five years in the public education sector.
She holds the following credentials all from San Diego State University: BA English Literature; Masters Degree in Reading Education;
Administrative Service Credential. She also studied at the University of San Diego to achieve a Certificate in Special Education Advocacy.
During her tenure as a public school teacher, JoEllen was passionate about her students with special needs. She advocated for her students’ rights and needs for a free and appropriate education. She supported both parents/guardians during this often times confusing and difficult process.
Every child deserves a meaningful and appropriate placement in regard to their education. JoEllen can help your child in a variety of ways. She is an expert in reading and explaining the entire IEP process which can be very confusing to parents/guardians. JoEllen will help you navigate through the maze of complicated language that can inundate a family during the IEP process.
JoEllen’s goal is to empower parents and students with disabilities and develop a working relationship between the school team and the family. As a member of Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, JoEllen is active in the field of Special Education Advocates.
